Hi and welcome. Hope your day is as sunny as mine (in England! that counts twice!)
It has been a while since my last post, I have been in the process of changing my 9-5 job to Global ecommerce operations executive. Looking at the global scope of the new role, you can imagine how much there is for me to learn and coordinate, how involved I need to be in creating new processes (this role is newly created, not inherited from someone who had moved to greener pastures), routines, objectives that meet business needs. It is a very valuable time, a sort of a crisis, where everything I knew up until now is not applicable anymore but there are no answers to my questions.

This is a o good lesson for every control freak (which I am), painful but priceless. It helps to believe, that you can improve things your own way, make them work better, more efficiently etc. Sounds great, doesn’t it? But…. this still means working on someone else’s success, every single day stretching your potential, using loads of your energy, being dragged into millions of different areas, being on top with projects, coordinating people (remotely!). It is great and it is a job of my dreams, however with time I realized, that I want to work smarter not harder, and going even further – less rather than more. It is not a new idea, but it might sound like not available to those, that have money to invest and KNOW how to do it. Most people would think of buying and renting properties, shares, use various financial instruments e.g. dividends – it is an option for more advanced businessmen, having funds, knowledge, market experience. Those would not need to read this article. What about people like you and me, bloggers, youtubers, running a little fanpage on fb or having some IG followers, can we have a source of passive income without money investment? And why is it worth it?

VERSUS

The answer I have for you is YES. I have been talking to my friends, freelancers, independent consultants etc. which during pandemic have lost their sources of income. I was thinking, that if I would be running out of money, I would explore ALL of the possible options. It was interesting to see that some people were thinking of this situation and the problems they had been facing as something that they were not able to do anything with or adjust to the new reality. Fair enough, it was and still is unpredictable and we do not know what to expect (as now we are in July 2021 so we know a bit more about the pandemic reality and our government plans to deal with this global crisis). But without being an experienced business owner, in the first few weeks of the pandemic I gave my friend (who was a fruit and vegetable supplier to restaurants, nurseries etc.) my advise to immediately start seeking option to sell products in a different way (online shop, home deliveries for those isolating, promotions with free delivery above certain basket value, expanding the basket to day-to-day grocery to find more clients) to make sure the money still flow, even if less than expected.

The idea was to diverse sources of income (they also call it having multiple legs you stand on). I was also thinking, that as a self-conscious person, self-development driven, that had already made a decision to be the entrepreneur (great courage in my opinion guys!) they would naturally have that drive. But they were still trying to solve their situation using old methods.
This brings me to my favourite Albert Einstein’s quote:
“Insanity is doing the same thing, over and over again, but expecting different results”
I guess it is also applicable when the circumstances change – you have to deliver result in a different way.. It is obviously everyone’s choice, but with this unusual type of crisis you need to find more creative ways of dealing with it.
I personally started working on my blog, but because I was extremely busy after my first promotion and the industry I am working in was really hectic (making me a key worker) at the time, I was trying to find the time to start off my own blog (and also seeking ideas how to shape it). I was not financially instable so there was no rush for me to revolutionize my way of living and working but still I put some effort to at least initiate my own income diversion on a smaller scale to make sure that going forward I grow it and if anything happens, I have my ‘other leg’ so I am not going to fall down. This is very important when you cannot rely on your governmental support as much as you would like when the crisis hits you and your industry gets ‘frozen’ for unforeseeable future. Learning to adjust to the change in the world now seems to be the key, especially that the world seems to have gone mad and is very quickly being revolutionized.

Now I have come to the point where I want to not only talk about what I do, but also promote ways of adding to our budgets some extra money with no or limited input. It has been on my plate for quite a while now and the idea is, that you do something once, but once it is IN THE LOOP -> out there for people that need it too, it keeps on bringing income. Example? – online course if you are an expert in your area (musician with teaching skills, who can also coach others how to use their voice safely etc.). The key is to find the right group of people seeking your skillset and to find efficient ways to deliver it to them.

There is loads of stuff available online from those, that have started and been doing it successfully for quite a while now but what I find difficult is to filter out what is there that is for me, and what is just a ‘noise’ as I am never going to use it. So my intention here is to present you options I decided to go for and share my results so you have a bigger picture.
I am a fan of income diversity but also of building different legs (almost like a tripod – but with as many legs as you like!) gradually as a process, which will help me to learn, grow, be more authentic – just not doing everything at the same time.

What I have in mind as (suitable for me) passive income sources with no or low investment are:
- monetizing this blog by using google Adsense and WordAds – more here
- own online course on e-learning platforms
- own ebook (there are companies that will take care of selling it and I will just be gaining some % of their income when it sells, but you can also sell it yourself)
- exploring MLM (you either love or hate it!)
- your own youtube channel (I encourage you to at least check my one out by clicking the link – if you anyhow appreciate a content of this article – it is a relaxation music I’ve created so far) with valuable, funny or simply – by all means – popular content or music, that people are looking for – available option is earning from ads if you reach a number of video’s views that youtube is willing to pay for; payments are being collected after hitting a certain threshold of ads served (usually every 1000 views) and vary on the content category. It is called CPM and you can estimate it using for instance this calculator (assuming you know your estimated CPM value for your content)
- newsletter with offers when things progress more
- facebook charity activities (not as a source of income as it will be 100% pro bono, but a way to help get more recognizable and build own brand – I see lots of these on fb recently) – more about my recent experiences here
- affiliation links on the website (if someone registers and/or purchases it through your reflink, you get rewarded with money) – also in conjunction with bitbays transactions (this is super exciting way of earning!)
Some of the works have already started (online course, youtube channel), some I had to postpone to adjust to changing circumstances (online course about creating own webshop step by step has been put on hold – such is life), most of these I am going to explore and let you know how it goes so you can use it at your own playground.

Remember to always specify a group of people you want to target (don’t try to target EVERYONE, you will most likely not reach ANYONE but unwanted traffic) and always think of their problems to solve. People love problem solving solutions and are happy to pay for it. And once you reach the right people, your intellectual property – if valuable – will be circulating in its own loop and bringing you profit.

And I have a little secret to share here but shhhh! If your skills are unique and you find your niche, you will see that an increased interest in your skills will quickly reach its limits as you only get 24 hours each day and you still want to live your offline life! That is why having your own portfolio can serve you and your followers 24/7, even if you are sleeping or enjoying life under the palm tree 🙂

THIS IS THE BEST WAY TO SCALE YOUR BUSINESS WHEN YOU HAVE BUILT IT AND EXPANDED TO THE LIMITS – WHEN YOU THINK 24 HOURS IS NOT ENOUGH TO GO FURTHER, YOUR LOOP WILL DO IT FOR YOU 🙂
Let the technology work hard for you and generate your extra passive income!
Thank you for accompanying me in my journey, stay tuned 🙂
Sky is the limit!
